Highway Hymn VIII
Its eyes twinkle
filled with fear
frozen in the glare
White patches still
speckle the brown coat
legs taut coiled up
like a compressed spring
It stares at me, then
this trapped apparition
dissolves like vapor
into the underbush
filled with fear
frozen in the glare
White patches still
speckle the brown coat
legs taut coiled up
like a compressed spring
It stares at me, then
this trapped apparition
dissolves like vapor
into the underbush
